Looking for the TDI with the most mileage in Canada

Given the high compression required by the diesel’s ignition system, all components are built very tough. So TDIs with their original engine can often be found with several hundred thousand kilometres on the odometer.

We decided to have a little fun and looked on the Web to see what we could find. Apparently, the TDI with the most mileage in the United States belongs to Syl Schmid, the proud owner of a 1986 Turbo Diesel Jetta that has 562,000 miles on the counter (that’s 904,451 km!).

So what could the record be in Canada, you ask? If you have a TDI with impressive mileage, we’d love to hear from you. Drop us a line right here, and specify the make, model year and number of kilometres on the counter. Maybe you have the TDI with the best mileage in Canada.

Are we looking for the highest mileage TDI or highest mileage Diesel? Because that 1986 Jetta is not a TDI. If non-TDI engines can be submitted, I’d like to include a 1993 Passat Eco Diesel, 520,XXX km
