Optimising mileage

In this post, I introduced you to different ways of reducing fuel consumption though simple little actions. The presentation was a little inconvenient however, as it was difficult to see the accumulated impact of these quite sensible little acts. That’s no longer a problem, because here is the MPG Optimizer, quite a user-friendly tool that allows you to visualise the impact of your choices and actions.

As this is a U.S. site, the result will be in miles per gallon, but by using Google in a novel way, you can easily convert your result to L/100 km. How do you do this? Easy. Just enter your result in the Google window in the following way:
55 mpg in L/100 km, then press enter. Google will use its numerous servers to convert this for you in the time it takes to click on it. Practical, isn’t it?
