Mileage, emissions, average annual fuel cost: compare your vehicle to the Jetta TDI Clean Diesel with the new TDI Curious Comparator.

Given that you probably don’t have the luxury as Louis-Alain and I do to cruise the highway for hours on end just to test your vehicle’s fuel consumption, we’ve added a handy little tool to the blog: the TDI Clean Diesel Comparator.

The tool is pretty simple: just enter four criteria (make, model, engine, and km/year) and that’s it. The comparator automatically calculates the data for both vehicles based on Transport Canada’s fuel consumption figures.

It gives you the number of litres per 100 km on the highway, number of litres per 100 km in the city, cost per tank, average annual fuel cost, mileage per tank, and carbon footprint based on kilograms of CO2 emissions per year.

Of course, these figures are only estimates because they cannot reflect your real fuel consumption. As mentioned in a previous post, this can be affected by many criteria. But the exercise will still give you a broad view of each vehicle’s performance.
