Kilometrage 2.0

September 24, 2008 -- Filed under Saving money by Normand Miron

If you’re a regular Web user, you’ve probably already heard of Web 2.0, a liberalization of the new technology that has given rise to the likes of YouTube, Flickr, Facebook, MySpace and other social networking sites. Well, drivers who care about their fuel consumption also have their own 2.0 site: Fuelly.com.

This well-conceived site (our American friends allow us to change from gallons to litres at the simple touch of a button) lets you create a profile by entering information about your car. Then you enter information into a register of fuel consumption. Highly practical, the site even allows you to upload updates by cellphone (if you have an iPhone), which is very handy when you’re at the gas station.

The goal of this site being to share information with a virtual community, you can use it to get tips or check out the fuel consumption of other members and, of course, their cars. Shopping around will save you money ;-) We’re already starting to see numbers for the 2009 Jetta TDI Clean Diesel.
